Scope and content
By the beginning of 1944 SZ and most of the Bombing Survey Unit had returned to the United Kingdom. E.C. Williams is left to run the Unit with the help of A.P.D. Thomson, Snowden Marshall, J.G. Angles, Alan H.M. Smith, G. Calcutt and Field Officer Stevens, and much of the correspondence is between SZ and E.C. Williams. The Unit continues to investigate the effects which aerial bombing of marshalling yards and railways has on the transport of supplies through Italy by the Germans. Negotiations continue for Thomson to be posted to the United Kingdom and to be able to continue with scientific research. In the middle of 6/44 Marshall and Thomson arrive in the United Kingdom with half a ton of statistic cards. After an analysis is carried out on them Marshall departs for the United States in the middle of 7/44. Krohn and SZ are both still writing letters for the reimbursement of their living expences while in North Africa, Sicily and Italy.
