Contains 17 items which include: an Air Ministry/Ministry of War Transport paper Air Attack on the enemy's railways, 28/7/43, sent to SZ by Air Commodore Vasse on 4/2/44 following a meeting between the two; minutes of a meeting on 25/2/44 chaired by Sir Trafford Leigh-Mallory and attended by representatives of the Air Ministry, Railway Executive Committee and Railway Research Service, US Air Forces and 21 Army Group that had been convened to discuss "the proposed offensive against the enemy's rail system in connection with Operation Overlord"; and notes on visits to UK rail depots and meetings with their personnel in relation to a meeting called by Leigh-Mallory, according to later annotations on the notes by SZ, in late April 1944.

Items SZ/AEAF/1/8/7-16 date from August 1944 and are reports by C.E.R. Sherrington of the Railway Research Service on the French railways and associated correspondence between Sherrington and SZ. Sherrington's report drew heavily on data supplied by senior personnel of SNCF (Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer).
