Contains 13 items covering the period May-August 1944 which include; appreciations issued in late May 1944 of the effectiveness of the programme of attacks on rail centres in support of Operation Overlord; proposals, in June 1944, for a programme of attacks on bridges, rail centres, and fuel and ammunition dumps in three lines of interdiction from the Seine-Loire gap to the Swiss border; a paper, written in late June 1944, setting out a plan for sealing off the V-weapon launching sites along the French and Belgian coasts by means of "rail interdiction" by air; a paper dated 29/66/44 evaluating the relative effectiveness of air attacks on fuel dumps and the oil supply system, military training camps and repair centres, and tank concentrations and equipping facilities, as means of weakening German armoured divisions west of Paris; and a memorandum to 21 Army Group, 5/8/44 from SHAEF's Operations Division (G-3) authorising the reconstruction of the Brest-Rennes rail route.
