Furniture Development Council
The Furniture Development Council was established by Act of Parliament on 1/1/49. It was separate from, but owed part of its existence to, the Furniture Working Party [see PP/19] which had recommended the establishment of a tripartite body to oversee the furniture industry. Papers relating to the F.D.C.'s origins and history are included, as are a full set of minutes, conference papers, annual reports, official correspondence, press cuttings, and discussion papers. Jack Pritchard was executive director and secretary of the F.D.C. until 1963.
