The Furniture Working Party, comprising employers, trade union representatives, and independent members, was appointed by the Board of Trade in October 1945 to investigate how to raise efficiency in the furniture industry for the good of all concerned. The working party issued the report in August 1946. These papers include minutes and papers of the main working party and its sub-groups, papers relating to visits to Switzerland and the United States, the working party's ideas regarding education and training in the industry, press reports, and drafts and final versions of the party's report.
