Operation Pointblank

Contains six items being: a minute from the Chief of Staff, 15/4/44, advising that direction of all forces of RAF Bomber Command and US Strategic Air Forces in support of Operation Overlord and in the execution of the Pointblank Directive was now vested in Air Chief Marshal Tedder; minutes of the second meeting of the SHAEF Transportation Targets Committee, 18/4/44; notes, dated 30/4/44, summarising attacks on rail centres in France and the Low Countries, 20/4/44, and their effects; minutes of a meeting held at SHAEF HQ, 3/5/44, chaired by Tedder and convened to consider alternative targets to those being attacked under the Transportation Plan; and an associated briefing note reporting that certain of these alternative targets were already being dealt with and asserting that "none represent as economic a target system as does the transportation system" of France.
