Scope and content
‘I was playing football on Wednesday the Bio. Undergrads lost 6-4 to a combined team of Bio. Post G. and Technicians. And on Sunday we travelled c.25ml to Harleston to be beaten 4-0 by the Magpies mixed hockey team, my only shot just went dead in the mud in front of the goal! However I have represented the University and worn a University shirt! (bought by the S.U. with the University Challenge £80, part thereof.’)

‘The situation in this place is getting ludicrous, stable relationships can be numbered on the fingers of one hand, “several friendships” not withstanding.’

‘Our Valentine hop tonight, it seems to be breaking up now, another Hop-Flop with too many women, the situation aggravated by the presence of women from Keswick T.C. and the number of people home for- the-weekend again.’

‘”Watt’s Court” disappeared on Monday evening I’m afraid’.

‘If you saw the TV News today you may have seen Jo Grimand looking around the University, and probably chatting to Dorothy about the Students Council; I was probably out of the picture, defferentially allowing the macaroni cheese to congeal. Reactions of Dr. Clarke, Prof. Dick, Prof. Macfarlane also on the same table were a) I don’t want to meet his man b) I know this man and I dislike him, just ignore him and maybe he’ll go away c) I’ve been trying to avoid him all morning. Prof. Katrizkey was lumbered as the Prof. most-likely-to-succeed in showing him the science facilities. This week (?) the Dean of Physics/Maths was appointed, a Dr. Osborne, and there have also been more potential undergrads about the place.’

‘The scarf controversy continues: the V.C. has had his University scarf made up, so we have had two potential Union scarves made up and are to choose democratically between the three next Tuesday. Scarf most-likely-to-succeed is a broad black band ¼ “ yellow – narrow blue band c. 24/- (perhaps you’d like to give me one for my birthday instead of a record – if of course we can go ahead with our choice promptly after Tuesday).’
