Two appendices, "A. Plan for attack of selected rail targets" and "B. Estimated weight of air attack required", and two maps, "A. Railway Targets" and "B. Road Targets" are absent.

The study was "part of the overall Air Plan in support of Operation 'NEPTUNE' and its object was "to examine methods by which the maximum delay may be imposed on the arrival of the enemy's reserve formations in the assault area during the initial stages of the Operation" on the assumption that the threat of invasion had been mounted against the Pas de Calais and Southern France.

Operation Neptune was the 'cover' operation designed to draw the attention of German forces away from the actual assault area of Operation Overlord.
