"The first programme was broadcast on 26/01/2016 on the eve of the Holocaust Memorial Day under the title 'The more potent the gift of remembrance, the greater the metaphysical disquiet. The themed evening started with a recording of Sebald's short story 'Dr K's Badereise nach Riva' (Dr K Takes the Waters at Riva), read by the author on 15/03/1993 as part of the series 'Talking About Literature'. This was followed by a discussion with Sebald researcher Uwe Schütte.

There followed another programme on 18/10/2016 devoted to memories of Max, as Sebald preferred to be called by his friends. They told of their various encounters with him from different points of view.

As very few audio recordings of Sebald exist, the idea was mooted of publishing both a reading by the author and the reminiscences as part of the series SR2 Edition. The production of the CD was made possible thanks to the active involvement of Ute Sebald and Jan Peter Tripp as well as the Wylie Agency." [Excerpt from the description document].
