Gordon Turner, a former lecturer of German at the University of East Anglia, and long-time friend and colleague of the late author W.G. Sebald. He administered, transcribed and logged a collection of audio and video recordings which either features or are about Sebald. Turner compiled an audio-visual bibliography which is published in 'Saturn's Moons', 2011.
Scope and content
A collection of audio and audio-visual recordings, featuring W.G. Sebald, collected by Gordon Turner, a former lecturer of German at the University of East Anglia.

W.G. Sebald (1944-2001) was a German writer and academic who was appointed to a chair of German literature at the University of East Anglia in 1987, and in 1989 became the founding director of the British Centre for Literary Translation (BCLT).

His novels in German include: Vertigo (1990), The Emigrants (1992), The Rings of Saturn (1995) and Austerlitz (2001) [VERA].

The English translations follow a different order: The Emigrants (1996), The Rings of Saturn (1998), Vertigo (1999), and Austerlitz (2001) [ERVA].

The collection encompasses readings, interviews, documentaries, discussion programmes, radio and television broadcasts and adaptations.

The physical carriers includes audio cassettes, VHS, CDs, DVDs. Included are selected printed transcripts. The Archives has created selected digital copies for ease of access.
