The contents relate to periods of student unrest at UEA and the sit-ins of 1971 and 1979. In particular to the sit-in staged in protest at the University's decision to send down an American student, W.G. (Bill) Hutchison. The contents include timetables for meetings and marches; newsletters; a senate report agenda; an open letter from Richard Abraham; a list of signatories to propositions regarding discipline and welfare; committee memoranda; a letter from the the Registrar G.A Chadwick; memorandum from B. Burgoyne, Secretary of the UEA group of A.S.T.M.S.; memoranda from the Association of University Teachers; report on an open meeting, by Dr. David King; news from Council.

This sub-collection was donated to UEA by Dr Arch Tait in November 2001. Dr Tait taught Russian language and literature at the UEA.
