SZ comments on Bernal's draft to the 'Times' [SZ/OEMU/57/1/2]. He feels Bernal is being unfair to Cherwell. He comments on the preference of most scientists to work with Tizard. SZ adds that the idea of surveying Birmingham and Hull was suggested to Cherwell by SZ in the light of the ineffectiveness of the bombing offensive. SZ reminds Bernal that he too had previously agreed on the value of such an enquiry.
