Hasler suggests SZ contact Captain Vaugham at the Admiralty who directs experiments on skin divers. A table had been produced by them showing the maximum "deterent" range of charges. He notes that the deterrent range was almost three times as great with the head submerged as with the head out of water.

On verso is SZ's reply, dated 15/6/42.
