Bernal stresses that problems involving policy in Air Force and Combined Operations are the ones, [mentioned in SZ/OEMU/48/1/17-18], which need the greatest attention.

The question of assault warfare is raised. SZ is encouraged to work with Pippett on this. Blackett would be carrying out a general census of enemy defences.

Bernal asks if SZ had managed to get any ORG investigations going for Combined Operations. He mentions discussions with Cockcroft and Shonland. A statistician who was in Northern Ireland, Dr Fisher, is recommended, if SZ needs to work with him.
