Stradling, Reginald Edward recipient
Rear-Admiral Wakeley has told SZ about several cases of blast injuries to the lungs spotted at the Royal Naval Hospital, Newton Abbot. SZ saw Rear-Admiral Griffiths who was very interested in the work and granted permission for SZ and Barclay to visit the hospital. At the hospital SZ saw cases of severe blast injuries caused by aerial bombs. None of the men suffered penetrating wounds, but most had burns and some had lung injuries. Surgeon Commander Allison at the hospital has a copy of SZ's report on such injuries and has made his own report. Mentions Mellanby and the EMS.
