"Since the publication of `Crater dimensions from experimental data - R.C. 344' in September 1942, much more information has been obtained. The cratering effect of charges in sand, in particular, has been studied, and it is now possible to give an empirical curve showing the variation of crater diameters and depths according to the depth of the centre of mass of the charge. A similar curve is given for peat. Also, the effect of charges detonated above ground level has been investigated, and more information has been obtained on the effect of charge/weight ratio. Further experiments are required before the investigation is completed." Graphs are included, and a profile drawing of crater types.
