Experimental data is examined to determine how the diameter and depth of craters are related to: depth of centre of mass of charge, weight of charge, charge/weight ratio, type of explosive, and kind of soil in which the explosion takes place.

A curve is plotted which may prove useful for the estimation of bomb sizes from crater dimensions measured in the field. Profile drawings of crater types in clay profiles are included.
