Allison, Philip Rowland, 1907-1974
Animals -- Shock
McSwiney, Bryan Austin, recipient
SZ relates his visit to Newton Abbot where Surgeon Commander Allison was handling 14 cases of blast injuries to the lungs. None had penetrating wounds, most were burnt. There was no correlation between the severity of burns and the incidence of pulmonary lesions. Shock appeared to be profound.
Casualties in Scotland had been reported to SZ. Due to the increasing incidence of the reports, SZ asks McSwiney if he wanted to go up there.
