Comments on "the S.N.C.F. plan" [SZ/AEAF/7/4/3-4] and "DR/Plans pre amble [sic]" [SZ/AEAF/7/4/1-2]. SZ summarises the plan forwarded by SNCF and French resistance personnel and points out that the bombing programme suggested would "require a considerable effort from the VIII" (US Eighth Air Force) if carried out during the tactical phase of Operation Overlord, since many of the proposed targets were beyond the range of OBOE and allied day medium fighters. SZ suggests that fighter-bombers might be employed. He also stresses the need to canvass the views of Mr Brant of the Railway Research Service and other "SHAEF railway experts".
