Letter, 18/3/2010. TS. As a former U.S. Navy Officer, Keith pays special attention to military details. In ’Tripwire’ he notices a contradiction in Reacher’s life history. Reacher is said to be born the son of a serving Marine Corps officer (p.8 of the paperback edition) but later (p.375) “like any Army kid, he changed elementary schools dozens of times”. In Keith’s naval experience Marines always had their own bases, quite distinct from the U.S. Army. He questions whether Reacher could be considered an “Army kid”.
He hopes that Reacher, being a West Point graduate, he will in time have reason to solve a crime involving the Point.
