This series contains a large volume of LC's fan mail, received in hard copy via postal mail. There is a large and varied fan base for LC's works, including US Presidents, prisoners, literary writers and large numbers of avid crime thriller readers, some as young as ten years old, some as old as ninety.
Many letters illustrate how admiring readers are of 'Jack Reacher' as a character and how protective they feel over how he is represented. This results in a significant tranche of letters from readers dismayed that Tom Cruise was to play Reacher in the cinematic adaptations.
Some letters point out minor discrepancies and technical flaws in certain plot points.
Overwhelmingly, the letters are highly complimentary about LC's writing and full of gratitude for the pleasure the works have brought them.
