When Alex Noel-Tod, the Librarian responsible for the collection, left the University in January 2006 he deposited a file of material relating to the Record Library.
Contained in one box. The UEA Record Library was founded in 1964. A grant from the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths made possible the initial purchase of records. It was then maintained by grants from the Students' Union and members' subscriptions. It was controlled by a Sub-Committee of the Library Committee.
In 1995 all cassettes were withdrawn and the records were replaced with an entirely CD collection.
Included is publicity material; meeting minutes and agendas of the Sub-Committee; annual reports; new acquisition lists; accounts; statistics; and papers relating to recommendations for purchase, service provision, staffing, funding, membership and borrowing rules.
