Contains 5 spiral-bound volumes published by ASFA Ltd, Architects, Town Planners and Landscape Architects; and 6 loose plans (sectional elevations; illustrative proposals). The appendices also contain documents, photos and plans dating back to the 1960s.

The bound volumes contain wide ranging papers relating to the public inquiry held to determine the planning outcome of a proposed research and development complex located in the environmentally sensitive Yare Valley at Colney. South Norfolk District Council refused the planning permission and UEA appealed. A public inquiry followed in 1990.

The appeal site, triangular in shape, extended to an area of approximately 5.5 ha including the area required for highway works. At the time it was being used by the School of Development Studies of UEA for agricultural activities.

The outcome of the inquiry laid the groundwork for the subsequent development of the Norwich Research Park; the sensitive area was protected with the Research Park being built further west. The appeal site, adjacent to the Yare, remains in 2026 a gravel car park known as UEA Triangle Car Park.
