Crush syndrome
Bywaters, Eric George Lapthorne, recipient
Security reasons had prevented publication of incident figures of crush. Douglas now supplies the following figures: mortuary dead - 599; dying in wards - 73; seriously injured hospital cases - 312; slightly injured hospital cases - 396.
Douglas hoped to produce a more detailed and scientific article on the incidence of different types of injury in air raid casualties going to hospital.
