Contains correspondence and papers relating to: the working practices of the casualty survey staff; responsibilities of lay and medical staff; the composition of the mobile teams; the type of information to be obtained; the London shelter enquiry into the usage and construction of air-raid shelters; the establishment of a psychological survey; the role of American sociologists and psychologists in the work; and the methods to be used in analysing school children's essays. The vast majority of the sub series (20 files) contains essays written by school children in Birmingham and Hull regarding their feelings and actions during air-raids. The files contain nearly 2100 of these essays.
