Scope and content
Contains indexes to papers, general correspondence relating to panel affairs, memoranda and discussion papers, and papers on many aspects of the fragmentation of a wide variety of shells, bombs, and weapons. Also includes papers on the theoretical aspects of fragment research and techniques used.

In 1943 the Static Detonation Committee of the Ministry of Supply’s Advisory Council on Scientific Research and Technical Development recommended that the Department of Anatomy at Oxford University (i.e. OEMU) be commissioned to carry out work to determine the anti-personnel effect of fragments of about an ounce in weight.

The contents of this sub-series relate to the work of the Advisory Council’s Fragmentation Panel, which oversaw fragmentation research and of which SZ was a member. Many of the papers and reports in the sub-series resulted from work carried out at the Safety in Mines Research Station and the Road Research Laboratory. Other bodies from whom reports were received included OEMU, the CDRC, MOHS RE, AORG, the Ordnance Board, the Armaments Research Department of the Ministry of Supply (ARD), the Ministry of Aircraft Production (MAP), and AWAS.
