SZ was leaving for Africa before it had been possible to conduct experiments on larger fragments.
The Ordnance Board had found difficulties in projecting fragments of the required size, but once sorted they would inform Le Gros. The gun and staff would be sent up to Buxton. SZ suggests that Lt. Gruneberg and Miss Batty Shaw should carry out the experiments.
