"A method is developed by which the equation of state of the gaseous products of detonation can be partially determined, for certain explosives rich in oxygen, from the observed detonation velocities. Detailed application is made to the case of PETN and the adiabatic p,v relation for the products of detonation of this substance is thereby determined. The initial air shock-wave velocities arising from PETN at two loading densities are calculated." Tables and graphs are included.
