A series of determinations was made of fragment velocities from model bomb casings of different materials and of different thicknesses. The results with mild steel, cast iron and lead lie on a smooth curve connecting E/C ratio with velocity. The velocities of the aluminium fragments were appreciably lower than would be predicted from the curve. Tables and graphs are included, and illustrations of fragmentation occurring in mild steel, cast iron, lead, steel, and aluminium.
Two copies.
