"The tubing used in the experiments described in previous reports was supplied by Messrs. Stewarts and Lloyds, and its general specification as given by the manufacturers is given in Report D 13 (R.C. 184). The [0].125 in. tubing was supplied in three and the [0].30 in. in two different batches. It was thought advisable to submit each batch to a metallurgical examination ---. More recent experimental work, in which the metallurgical properties of the tubes were drastically altered by heat treatment, indicate that the small differences observed in these different batches are insufficient materially to affect the results obtained."
