"The fragments are classified according to their dimensions and to the shape of their transverse sections. Distribution curves of all fragments indicate three critical thicknesses and three critical breadths. Inspection shows that there are two probable angles of shear. With the fragments of triangular section these allow only three probable shapes of different sizes since there are only two critical breadths in the case of these fragments. Some of the factors controlling the relationship between thinning and rupture are discussed briefly." Tables and graphs are included.
