The shape of bomb fragments collected in telephone directories from a well fragmented bomb was studied. The particles were classified into sizes by sieving, they were then classified for shape by separating groups of equal average particle length and thickness. This method of classifying was applied to fragments obtained from a 2 kg. cast-iron anti-personnel bomb. The result confirmed that the average ratio of fragment weight to projected area of fragment, was independent of fragment size. Tables and graphs are included, a diagram showing the principal dimensions of a bomb fragment, and half-tone illustrations of representative fragments from each shape group for two sizes of fragment.
