Minutes and papers, 1961-1966.
There is no evidence that SZ was a member of any of the committees to which this series relates, nor that he attended any of the meetings documented. The papers were sent to him either because of their relevance to his activities as Chairman of the ACSP's Committee on Scientific Manpower or as a member of the NATO Science Committee (Files SZ/OECD/1-3), or in his capacity as Chief Scientific Adviser to the government (files SZ/OECD/4-5).
The Committees for Science Policy, and Research Co-operation were set up by the Council of the OECD in May 1966. The former was mandated to concern itself with overall science policies and their relationship to other countries, while the latter would deal with research in particular sectors and with the stimulation of cooperative research [Records of first sessions, July, 1966]
The bulk of the material in File SZ/OECD/5 relates to the 1966 meeting and includes many papers produced by the Interim Committee preparatory to that meeting. Material relating to the earlier and later meetings is fragmentary. SZ did not attend any of the meetings.
