Mountbatten Memorial Trust
1979-1993
2 boxes.
Following the assassination of Earl Mountbatten of Burma in August 1979, a charitable trust was established in his memory in October of the same year. The Board of Trustees was chaired by the Prince of Wales and SZ was among the first non-family trustees appointed. The aims of the Trust reflected two of Lord Mountbatten's major interests, the United World Colleges and technology. There is evidence from the files that SZ was instrumental in persuading the Trust of the merits of supporting research and development of technological aids for the disabled.
The files of minutes and related papers, and reports, are far from complete.
