Healey, Denis, 1917-
Luce, John David,
Luce, John David,
Describes the Admirals' revolt which began when the First Sea Lord, Admiral Sir David Luce, approached the Prime Minister to object to the scrapping of Britain's aircraft carrier programme by Mr Healey. Mr Healey had supported the view that the RAF should be equipped with the American F-111 bomber, and rejected the purchase of a new carrier. Shortcomings in the United States warplane are mentioned.
