Zuckerman, Solly, 1904-1993
Refers to frictions with the Chief of the Defence Staff, General Sir Richard Hull. Issues which SZ had supported, and which had been overlooked, included the aircraft carrier, and a versatile aircraft which could take off vertically. SZ was also concerned with the assumption of Army Chiefs that the British Army of the Rhine could fight a European land battle with tactical nuclear weapons. SZ had been openly critical of the Defence review.
