Todd thanks Slater for his work on the report of the Committee on Research into Natural Resources. The Advisory Council on Scientific Policy supported SZ's view that nature reserves should not be separated from research in terrestrial ecology. In principal the decision had been taken to establish a Natural Resources Research Council. The report had been submitted to the Trend Committee for their comments.
