Scope and content

Provides the views of the Secretary of State on the Committee. The aims of the Committee were to examine the formulation of a unified and sensible defence policy and the efficient and economical administration of the armed forces. The Secretary of State asked the Committee to examine: the feasibility of a common promotion list for officers of all three Services; and the machinery for the better co-ordination of the departmental advice submitted to Ministers.
