Clarke was aware that SZ had accepted all of his amendments [to the innovation report]. SZ must have misunderstood Clarke's letter to Burke [Trend]. Clarke apologises for incorrectly stating the extent of Blackett's involvement and warns SZ about underestimating "the ill-feeling which is created by attacks on the research establishments on unspecified grounds against which they neve have an opportunity to defend themselves."
