Catagorises types of damage, identifies elements of a rail system destruction of which are judged most damaging and calculates repair times relative to damage, and length of delay to operations, and probabilities of damage relative to weapon, bombing accuracy and tactics.
Bronowski is of the opinion that the most serious damage is caused by destruction of tunnels, bridges and viaducts - all of which call for specialist attack methods - and that "it is not time that stations, marshalling yards, and similar concentrations are good targets" for dislocation of a system "in the large".
