Lawn Road Flats -- Tenants
Stephen Games reviews an exhibition held in Oxford on Wells Coates. The article describes the modern day Lawn Road Flats and its structural defects. The architectural value of the building in 1932 is described and Coates' achievements in designing the Flats. Tenants and visitors to the flats are described and named, including those who had escaped Germany. An "artistic clique" was said to have formed in Lawn Road's "communal extrovert spirit". Those present at the Oxford exhibition included Jack and Molly Pritchard, Monica Pidgeon, Godfrey Samuel, Randal Bell, Coates' daughter Laura Cohn, and Sherban Cantacuzino who conducted a symposium. Two copies, one is a photocopy with the title amended to read "A modern line to match a modern lifestyle". The original is incomplete.
