Winant, John Gilbert. recipient
Jack Pritchard invites John and [Constance] Winant to formally open Impington Village College and encloses a relevent copy of `Architectural Review,' [not in file]. Jack Pritchard refers to the opening of the first village college [Sawston] in 1928 by the Duke of Windsor and to how the village college scheme "has been followed with interest in America." The Spelman Fund contributed generously to the scheme and the Rockefeller Foundation arranged Henry Morris' visit to Washington, USA, in 1934, where he was "attached to the Department of the Interior and [helped] in the section under Dr. Wilson" advising a rural community development.
Jack mentions that Walter Gropius, designer of Impington, is now a Professor of Architecture at Harvard [University] and invites John and [Constance] Winant to stay with Henry Morris and to accompany Philip and Lella [Sargant] Florence on a tour of Cambridge University.
