Pritchard gives details of Breuer's old friends and colleagues. Tim Bennett and John Kennedy are in the navy. Max Fry is in the War office, Yorke has not yet joined up, and de Cronin Hastings is working on a farm. Pritchard is at the Ministry of Information, a job which keeps "the wolf well away from the door" now that one third of the flats are empty and furniture sales tiny. Pritchard asks whether Breuer has seen anything of Peter Fischer, the trainee Pritchard sent to America, and whether he knows what has become of [Alvar] Aalto. Gives news of Jonathan, Jeremy, and Molly [Pritchard].
