Daltroff, E. M.
General correspondence between Mr Daltroff and the management of Lawn Road Flats, concerning leases and maintenance.
Lease agreement 15/9/1944.
Correspondence re laundry account; shoe cleaning; general repairs; electrical repairs; the fitting of new locks after burglaries in the wider complex in March 1948; ventilation and draughts; re-decoration of the flat by the owners in 1947; cost of anthracite and coke and an increase in energy bills; rent collection.
Request from E.M. Samuel for a switch to be repaired (which they broke whilst staying in Mr Daltroff’s flat for a week in October 1945).
Correspondence re renewal of lease (agreement dated Jan 1946 for three years).
Lease dated January 1949.
A request dated 7/8/55 from ‘Dally’ for trees not to be removed from the back of the building as they hide the ugly architecture opposite (in Haverstock Hill) and provide a barrier for the smoke coming from the railway chimney. Management replies mentioning the loss of a silver birch due to overcrowding; they hope to plant some fast-growing poplars to compensate for the removal of trees by Russell’s (neighbours).
Mr Daltroff gives up the flat in December 1956. He contributes £3 to the Christmas staff fund. His new address is 122 Rossmore Court, Park Road, N.W.1. The address is not permanent but he expects to be there for a few months. While he and his wife lived in Lawn Road Flats they had a cleaner for 2 mornings a week, they have arranged for the same cleaner to continue at their new address and request additional cleaning on two other mornings.
