Draft, annotated, typed copy of a lecture given by Jack Pritchard [at the Internation Congress of Furniture Manufacturers of the Union EuropeƩnne de l'Ameublement in Stockholm]. "It is concerned with the influence on the shape of furniture by those who have applied systematic thought - scientific thought - in the broadest sense". Jack Pritchard "gives examples of a few new materials that have had an effect on the design of furniture". He argues that the impact of a scientific approach has had a profound effect on the design of furniture and that this will increase rapidly. Jack Pritchard suggests ways in which the Furniture Industry can benefit from this. Contains illustrations and monochrome photographs. Includes the following loose figures: Fig. 17.
