Design -- 20th century
Copy of a lecture given by Jack Pritchard at the "Artworker Guild" 20/5/71. Jack Pritchard discusses the aims and ideas of Walter Gropius and the Bauhaus, "and the importance of a close association of the imaginative artist with the engineer and scientist." He discusses the influence of the industrial revolution on art and design and the negative reactions of William Morris and the Arts and Crafts Movement. Jack Pritchard calls for a more dynamic attitude to design training and closer collaboration between art and technology.
