10/11/1947
4 pages; 1 leaf Letters (typescript and MS)
Wood, Vera Marion recipient
Wood, Leslie John Cardew recipient
MS & TS. 4 pages. 1 leaf. With envelope stamped 15/11/1947, marked by PC as no. 8. With enclosed Halloween menu.
PC discusses the price of a tea, coffee and dinner service. She asks whether a 1937 £5 note could still be used. She’d designed and made a black frock. Describes her jewellery and hair on an evening out. In contrast to this sophisticated look she went skating in plaits the following morning.
She describes Americanisms and that the 5th member in the office has turned out to be nice and inoffensive however Bunny [Beryl Beswick] has produced ‘the most fantastic Lower School atmosphere.’ [Charles Macnamara works in the same office].
She wonders if her parents would preserve the enclosed Halloween menu among her other mementoes. She describes the meal which included Turkey bisque, grilled steak and a Burgundy Sherbet (a lively fruit sundae with wine).
