Notebooks containing literary notes about LC's literary works.

For data protection reasons, a number of the notebooks have been embargoed. However, extracts (the literary notes) from these embargoed notebooks have been scanned and printed for use by researchers and are ready to view in the Reading Room.

The notebooks typically address 2 or 3 of LC's novels and include draft paragraphs, dialogue, timelines, chapter plans, scene and character outlines, and small edits. There are 7 large notebooks which contain a large number of literary notes, and 5 small notebooks which are filled with contacts or personal/professional administration with a few literary notes. The exception is Small Notebook 4, which like the large notebooks has many literary notes.
