Scope and content
Letter, 16/8/2002. TS. With envelope. Donald is a former pastor of a church. He offers editorial comments on 'Without Fail'.

Includes corrections on grammar and offers comments on a church building and clergy. Reacher visits a church at 5am which is unlikely given that churches are usually locked for security reasons, even in North Dakota.

The heavy four inch oak door described in the book is inappropriate for a "white clapboard structure".

On p.189 we meet the church warden, indicating that this is an Episcopal church which is "unlikely in heavily German/Lutheran Bismark." Donald explains the different types of warden and points out that whatever this warden did, "he most certainly did not wear a black surplice that reached to his knees."

A lectern would never have steps leading up to it.

An Episcopal church is unlikely in Wyoming.

Donald questions whether they have front licence plates in Nevada.

He wonders why there is a funeral at 8am, which is usually the time for Holy Communion. "Why not wait until Froelich's body is released and have a proper funeral and burial in the churchyard?"

"I look forward to your next title. Just steer clear of churches."
