Theakston's Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Writing Award
Letter, 23/7/2011. MS. With envelope. Four years prior, Muriel had started a ‘Whodunnit’ group at the Horsham University of the Third Age. Each month all members read the same book then meet and discuss. Each January they have lunch at a local restaurant and choose their book of the year. In January 2011 they chose LC’s ‘The Visitor’. It was her first Jack Reacher novel “and [I] became a total convert.” Although small in comparison to Theakston’s Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award, Muriel thought LC might be pleased to know. She goes on to chastise him for not remembering to thank his readers when he accepted the award [in July 2011 at the Harrogate International Festival, for ’61 Hours’].
